Harness The Power of Your Mind for an Amazing Life [Video]

Are you a pessimist? or an optimist?

In its simplest terms, positive thinking is optimism and negative thinking is pessimism. It is an attitude towards life, yourself and particular predicaments and events in life.

Negative thinkers tend to focus on the negative, so they are much less equipped to deal with stress that then has an impact on their overall life. Learning to govern your thoughts enriches you with a power that ultimately helps you to create all that you desire. 

After all, to create or change anything, all it takes is just one thing…POWER. When you harness your power, you can change your world.

You are meant to have an amazing life! You are meant to have everything you love and desire. Your work is meant to be exciting, and you are meant to accomplish all the things you would love to accomplish.

Your relationships with your family and friends are meant to be filled with happiness. You are meant to have all the abundance you need to live a full, wonderful life. You are meant to be living your dreams – all of them!

One way to harness the power of your mind for an amazing life is to recognize and identify negativity and sources of negativity, and take conscious steps towards becoming a more positive person.

As a coach, I have found the following 3 ways to be the most common:

1. Filtering: In filtering, negative thinkers will magnify the negative aspects of a given situation and filter out any positive elements. For example, a negative thinker gets a raise and focuses on the fact that it’s too small or a student gets an A- on a paper, and is upset because it was not an A.

2. Personalizing: Personalizing is when one blames themselves whenever anything bad occurs, it is an automatic reaction. For example, you get rear ended, and blame yourself because you chose to turn onto the ill-fated street or a friend cancels a lunch date and you assume that it’s because he or she does not want to see you.

3. Catastrophizing: One of the more volatile negative thinking patterns, and possibly most harmful to health and wellness is catastrophizing, which is when one automatically anticipates the worst-case scenario in any given situation. For example, you arrive late for work and know the rest of the day will be a disaster, or your child gets the flu and you automatically fear that he or she is sicker than they are.

Take the time to evaluate if any of these apply to you and focus on the one that is a bigger issue for you this week.

Affirm to yourself:

” I am too positive to be doubtful, too optimistic to be fearful, too determined to be defeated, and too blessed to be stressed.”
