Each day you make choices that influence the quality of your health. Often you’re completely unaware of the choices you’re making and the potential impact to your body and your mind.
So often you end up operating from habit, instinct or need. While it’s a good thing that you don’t have to think about every little choice you make, when it comes to creating a healthy lifestyle, it is critical to be conscious and deliberate about your choices. Otherwise, you may find yourself feeling the negative effect of your unconscious choices by feeling overwhelmed, out of control, fatigued, stressed, or even sick.
Become more aware of the many choices you have to make in a day and ask yourself these three questions:
1. Do I have a choice?
2. Is this moving me toward or away from a healthy lifestyle?
3. What can be a positive perspective around this choice?
These three questions will help you to pause and think which will directly influence the choice you make.
Take an example of what you choose to drink.
You have a choice to drink a glass of water or a sugary drink such as pop.
Your choice will impact how you feel.
When you don’t have enough water, this causes you to become dehydrated which can lead to fatigue, irritability, headaches and dizziness.
Consider the positive impact from choosing water such that it helps you flush out toxins from your body, helps digestion, keeps your skin moisturized, boosts your immune system and increases your energy.
By answering these 3 questions, you’ll be more likely to choose water as the choice that moves you towards a healthier lifestyle.
